• Change the Oil - Checking and changing your oil and oil filter will help your engine and vehicle run smoothly. While changing your oil as required is important, using the manufacturer’s recommended oil for your vehicle can improve gas mileage by 1-2%.
• Regular Lubrication of Moving Components – This should be checked when your vehicle’s oil is changed. Driveline components (CV and u-joints) are flexible components that, if not properly lubricated, can break down and cause other major components to go with them.
• Check Transmission and Differential Fluid – These are other important fluids to check when your car is being serviced. If there are unusual noises, sluggish shifting or abrupt gear changes, that is a sign to have your transmission looked at. For fluid specifications, look over your owner’s manual to see what is recommended for your vehicle.
• Pay Attention to Battery Life – Keep battery connections tight, clean, and free of corrosion and make changes as necessary.
• Replace Brake Fluid – Brake fluid attracts moisture and can cause corrosion. To avoid this, brake fluid should be replaced once a year. This will ensure calipers, hoses, and other components are working in top condition. Be sure to change steering fluid and coolant as well.
• Functional Climate Control System –We suggest a flush and fill of the coolant system in your vehicle to get dirt and rust removed. Refrigerant can also be looked at prior to warmer seasons.
• Regular Wheel Alignments - Realign your wheels to reduce tire wear. If your car seems to be pulling to one side, this is a sign a wheel alignment is needed as well.
• Avoid Stop-And-Go Driving – This type of driving wastes fuel and puts wear and premature age on components.
